Chords - Video Soul / Fly [Metro]

Matrix’s Metro Recordings has made a name for itself as a purveyor of the highest quality drum and bass since its inception in 1997, thanks to releases from legends such as Ed Rush & Optical, Fresh, Cause 4 Concern, Fierce and more. Packing seminal classics such as ‘The Shining’, ‘Climate’, ‘Vertigo’ and 'Universal Truth' in its historic discography, and with releases from InsideInfo, Matrix and Chords delighting crowds across the globe in 2012, as well as the smash hit ‘All I Know’ from Matrix & Futurebound recently cracking the UK Top 40, the Metro name continues as a force to be reckoned with.

Already attracting the support of heavyweights such as Matrix & Futurebound, Sub Focus, Netsky, Culture Shock, Brookes Brothers and Sigma, Chris Ansah, aka Chords, is one of drum and bass’ most exciting new talents. A finalist in the BBC’s young musician of the year competition, the London based producer has gone from strength to strength ever since his reworking of Cyantific’s ‘Don’t Follow’ appeared on Hospital Records last year.

After making his Metro debut at the start of the year with the massive ‘Hypnotize’ (a collaboration with label boss Matrix which racked up over half a million views on UKF), Chords returns with two generous slices of sonic perfection. Featuring the robotic vocal driven sounds of ‘Video Soul’, and the effortlessly slick vibes of ‘Fly’ on the flip, Chords is a name to watch in 2013.

‘Video Soul’
Chords kicks off his impressive return to Metro with the super stylish ‘Video Soul’. Retro flavoured yet unmistakably futuristic, ‘Video Soul’ weaves an intricate web of luxurious synths and rave tinged stabs whilst an iconic vocoded vocal hook takes centre stage. Combining sharp production skills, an intense drum groove and disco infused synth lines, Chords marks his return to Metro Recordings with magnificent style.

With the perfect blend of slick production, fluid grooves and expertly crafted musicality, ‘Fly’ offers no let up. A distinctive talkbox bass line, bouncing percussion and super clean synth stabs create the backbone with silky smooth vocal hits to complete the picture, all engineered to perfection. 'Fly' is a killer piece of uplifting progressive drum & bass.
